Brittney Griner is in her first season with the Atlanta Dream after spending her entire WNBA career with the Phoenix Mercury. Now, she shares the court with two of the biggest stars in the WNBA, Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray.
On Friday, Atlanta entered the game vs. Seattle Storm with the longest winning streak in the WNBA, posting six wins ahead of the matchup.
Even though they faced a narrow 78-80 defeat, Griner came away with a new nickname. After she scored at the rim, the WNBA shared a video dubbing her ‘The Painter.'

Griner has been an incredible addition to the Dream. In her first season with Atlanta, she’s averaging 10.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. The Dream have emerged as one of the league’s top teams, currently ranked No. 3 in the WNBA.
They hold a 21-12 record, ranked behind the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty who also hold a 21-12 record.
Throughout her career, playing most of her time with the Phoenix Mercury, Griner has earned nine All-Star appearances while leading her team to a league title in 2014 and bringing in two scoring champion titles and two Defensive Player of the Year awards.
