Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially announced the signing of right-back Jackson Tchatchoua on a permanent deal from Serie A outfit Hellas Verona.

Official: Tchatchoua joins Wolves from Verona

The Cameroon international leaves Verona after two seasons, the first of which he spent on loan, before going on to feature in 36 out of 38 Serie A matches this season.

Reports indicate that the sale of the 23-year-old has raised around €12.5m for Verona, who themselves have spent around €11m on new arrivals over the course of the summer transfer window thus far.

Tchatchoua has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the option for an additional 12 months, which could tie him to Wolves until the summer of 2031.

“The Belgium-born right-wing-back, whose deal includes a 12-month option, is a Cameroon international and joins after two years in the top tier of Italian football, where he was recognised as the fastest player in Serie A last season,” a statement on the Wolves website read.

“The 23-year-old began his senior career with Charleroi in Belgium, debuting four years ago and even then, still a teenager, he was already operating as a wing-back and providing assists.

“A first senior goal arrived away to Genk from the right, while his second came from the left against RFC Seraing, and showed the raw pace Tchatchoua possesses, as well as his versatility.”

Tchatchoua becomes Verona’s third profitable sale of the summer, following the departure of Diego Coppola to Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee of just shy of €12m, plus the departure of Daniele Ghilardi for Roma, which cold eventually fetch the club another €11.5m.
