NASCAR is looking to sell the charters of 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports quickly. According to Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, NASCAR said other teams want to buy the 23XI and Front Row charters. The organization said this in a recent response to 23XI and Front Row’s injunction request to be charters for the rest of the year.

NASCAR said charter requests have come from “existing teams, other racing teams and others.” Pockrass said for this to happen, there needs to be a “30-day bidding process,” and “That needs to start now because any new teams likely need to get started by Oct. 1, prepping for 2026.”

23XI and Front Row are currently racing as open teams, but the cars will have guaranteed spots in races at least through the remainder of the season. U.S. District Court Jdge Kenneth Bell has set a hearing on Aug. 28, and it’s for the teams’ motion for an injcution to keep them charters for 2025. The hearing date is three days before NASCAR starts its Cup Series playoffs.

What fans are saying about NASCAR trying to sell 23XI and Front Row charters

23XI and Front Row did not sign their charter agreements for the 2025 season in order to sue NASCAR. They raced under chartered status for most of the year, due to an injunction that was vacated by the U.S. Court of Appeals.

NASCAR fans do not like what the organization is doing to 23XI and Front Row. One fan wrote, “So put 23XI and FRM out of business before they even have their day in court. Absolute horses**t. The courts need to deny this.”

Another fan added, “There is no way the judge is going to authorize the sale or transfer of these charters until the trial is concluded. I’m no lawyer, but this motion seems like a waste of the court’s time, and NASCAR trying once again to have their cake and eat it too.”

23XI and Front Row are three-car teams. Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan co-own 23XI, and the drivers for the team are Bubba Wallace, Tyler Reddick and Riley Herbst. Front Row is owned by Brad and Bob Jenkins, and the drivers are Noah Gragson, Todd Gilliland and Zane Smith.
