The 2025 college football season is right around the corner, with Week 0 action set for Aug. 23. Five games are on the slate that day, kicking off with a ranked Big 12 showdown in Dublin, Ireland, between the No. 22 Iowa State Cyclones and No. 17 Kansas State Wildcats.

Also on the slate: the Idaho State Bengals vs. the UNLV Rebels, the Fresno State Bulldogs vs. the Kansas Jayhawks, the Sam Houston Bearkats vs. the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Stanford Cardinal vs. the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors.

While the anticipation continues to build for football to return, ESPN's "College GameDay" analyst Kirk Herbstreit couldn't contain his excitement. On Saturday, he took to social media to make a post.

"⏰," Herbstreit posted while attaching a "ONE WEEK" GIF.

Fans saw Herbstreit's post and reacted to it with some more excitement.

"Can’t wait! Best time of the year," one fan said.

"Super ready for your games that you get call and for some college gameday," another wrote.

"Let’s gooooooooo!!!! added another. "Fired up to get this season going!!! Can’t wait to start waking up to College Gameday in the morning."

"Ready for the season," a fan said.

"It’s been a long wait," said another.

"One week away until i can have a reason to mute the ... TV," wrote a fan.

Kirk Herbstreit's 30th Season on 'College GameDay'

Herbstreit is entering his 30th season on college football’s premier kickoff show, having first joined in August 1996 and becoming a fixture ever since. This year marks a turning point, as it will be Herbstreit’s first full season without longtime partner Lee Corso by his side. Corso, a beloved face of "College GameDay"'" since 1987, is officially retiring and will make his final appearance on Aug. 30.
