The Buffalo Bills could move on from an expensive receiver should they sign Gabe Davis

The Buffalo Bills are getting set to wrap up the preseason and begin the trek towards Week 1, where they will host the Baltimore Ravens. Ahead of that, though, they could be bringing back a familiar face, as Jordan Schultz is reporting that Buffalo is set to host Gabe Davis for a visit.
"The Bills are expected to host WR Gabe Davis on a free-agent visit this week after he meets with the Steelers today," Schultz reports. "Davis had his best years in Buffalo, totaling over 3,200 yards and 35 TDs across four seasons (including playoffs)."
The Bills potentially bringing back Davis could spell the end for Curtis Samuel. Buffalo signed the former Commanders receiver to a three-year deal last offseason, but he had a very quiet 2024 campaign, catching just 31 passes and one touchdown.
Should Davis sign, the wide receiver room would roughly look like this, if I'm correct:
- Khalil Shakir
- Keon Coleman
- Josh Palmer
- Gabe Davis
- Elijah Moore
- Tyrell Shavers
This means that Curtis Samuel would get released/traded, as he has largely been unavailable due to injury since training camp started. Luckily for the Bills, there are multiple teams that could use a player of his skillset, and a fresh start for him would be the best thing.
