Barcelona are moving quickly to complete their squad registrations, but the process for Wojciech Szczesny and Roony Bardghji could take longer than expected.

According to Mundo Deportivo, both players might not be available until the third matchweek of La Liga, with their registrations directly tied to the departures of Inaki Pena and Hector Fort.

Hansi Flick is eager to have a full squad at his disposal as soon as possible, yet he may have to wait before calling on the Polish goalkeeper and the young Swedish winger.

The situation means both are unlikely to feature in Saturday’s clash against Levante, despite the coach’s desire to count on all his options.

For Szczesny, the delay could last until the Rayo Vallecano fixture in week three. Barcelona have already confirmed to La Liga their intention to register Bardghji, but they want him in the senior squad rather than with Barça Atletic.

This step has been taken to avoid any impression of mismanagement or bad faith.

Departures hold the key

The main obstacle is the pending exits of Pena and Fort. The 26-year-old Pena is close to securing a contract extension before leaving on loan, while Fort, 19, is expected to move either on loan or through a permanent transfer.

Once these two departures are finalised, Barcelona will have enough room to register both Szczesny and Bardghji without breaching financial fair play rules.

The club knows these moves are crucial, not only to strengthen Flick’s hand but also to maintain balance within the squad.

The delays may frustrate Flick, but Barça’s management is confident that by week three, both signings will officially become available, giving the German coach more depth and flexibility for the season ahead.
