Baseball players from Horseheads, Elmira Notre Dame, Windsor, Oneonta, Trumansburg, Unatego/Franklin and Schenevus earned all-state recognition.
Mason Holloway's historic 2025 baseball season has earned the Horseheads senior first-team all-state recognition from the New York State Sports Writers Association.
The pitcher/second baseman was joined by seven other first-team selections from Section 4.
A total of 30 players from Section 4 were selected all-state across six classifications. John Moriello, president of the NYSSWA, edited the teams based on nominations collected from across the state.
First-team picks in Class B from Section 4 were Windsor senior infielder/pitcher Ryan Kristof, Oneonta junior third baseman/outfielder Brady Carr, and Oneonta junior pitcher/shortstop Nolan Stark.
Class C first-team all-state picks from the section were Trumansburg junior first baseman Willougby Puryear and Unatego/Franklin pitcher/catcher/outfielder Xander Johnson.
Elmira Notre Dame senior pitcher/infielder Luke Richards was a Class D first-team pick along with Schenevus junior catcher Tim Green.
Binghamton University commit Holloway helped Horseheads capture the Class AA state championship. He posted an 8-0 record with one save, a 0.11 ERA, 111 strikeouts in 64 innings and didn't walk a batter. Holloway pitched two perfect games and the first five innings of another.
His batting numbers included a .368 average, two homers, 25 runs and 23 RBIs.
Holloway lost out on Class AA Player of the Year to Hauppauge (Long Island) senior catcher Michael Oliveto, who was the 34th overall selection in this year's MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers. Oliveto batted .435 with nine homers and a .633 on-base percentage.
