The Knicks remain a serious playoff contender.

The New York Knicks reignited their fanbase after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals after a quarter-century. While they fell short against the Indiana Pacers, the buzz they’ve generated puts the city back on the basketball map.
The Knicks haven’t been to the NBA Finals since the 1998-99 season, and the team feels that they are in a good position to break that drought. Hence, they’ve made some roster changes that they feel can get them over the hump.
However, while the Knicks made some offseason additions, Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey predicts that New York won’t show much progress during the regular season.
New York Knicks among the Eastern Conference’s best teams
Bailey projected the Knicks to finish with a 51-31 record, the same mark they had last season. “Well, think back to the caveat in the intro. There are only so many wins to go around, and being higher than consensus on one team might mean shaving a win or two off other teams,” he wrote.
While the Knicks’ starting lineup remains intact, their playing time might drastically change. From Tom Thibodeau, a coach who is notorious for extensively playing his starters, the Knicks turn to two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown. Likewise, the additions of Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele boost the Knicks' bench.
Meanwhile, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Knicks’ over/under at 53.5 wins. New York will open the season on October 22 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bookies.com’s Bill Speros also wrote that the Bucks will be among the least-travelled teams this season, ranking 21st with 39,815.2 miles across 28 time zones and 18 road trips.
