Cowboys’ Micah Parsons says peace out to Dallas with fitting Bible verse after trade request

The emoji may have just said it all.

Cowboys’ Micah Parsons says peace out to Dallas with fitting Bible verse after trade request originally appeared on The Sporting News

A look at Micah Parsons' account on X on Thursday night is not a good sign for the Dallas Cowboys.

With the superstar pass rusher embroiled in contentious contract negotiations and having put in a trade request, the indicators are not good right now.

The first is the post that Parsons sent out at 8:46 p.m. ET on Thursday.

It features a peace sign emoji with a photograph of a Bible verse from Micah 7:8: "Even if I fall, I will rise; the Lord is my light."

Parsons also made that Bible verse his profile photo on the social media website.

And in his bio on X, he removed any mention of the Cowboys. It now reads: "Penn state 2021. TBD."

None of that sounds like a guy who plans to remain with the Cowboys.

Of course, that would require Dallas to trade him away, which would require another team to surrender a boatload of assets to acquire Parsons and then pay him the biggest non-QB contract in NFL history.

It's certainly a possibility, although it would also mean owner Jerry Jones would have to swallow his pride to get such a deal done and admit that his negotiating tactics on Parsons' contract didn't work.

There's still much more to come in this story.

The Cowboys open the season in two weeks. They play in the NFL's first game of the regular season, on Thursday, Sept. 4 against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Will Parsons be on the field? Will he even still be a Cowboy?

Those are the questions everyone in the football world wants answers to, and they may be coming sooner rather than later.
