Can the Philadelphia 76ers do better this season?.
The 2024-25 NBA season wasn't the best for the Philadelphia 76ers. The team struggled with their lineup since the stars kept returning to the sidelines due to injuries. All-Star center Joel Embiid was limited to 19 games last season, averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists.
Paul George only appeared in 41 games and was shut down on March 17 due to adductor and knee issues. In his first season with the 76ers, George averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists. It was one of the lowest numbers the forward has posted since emerging as an All-Star in 2013.
Even Tyrese Maxey was limited as he only showed up to 54 games for Philly, averaging 26.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists. The 76ers shut him down because of a persistent strain in his right finger.
An NBA Insider Expects a Better Year From the 76ers
After a season where the entire team had a difficult time, The Ringer's Howard Beck predicts that the 76ers will have a better 2025-26 season. In the NBA insider's defense, Philly has a talented squad that could help the team have a better campaign than last year.
"Their rotation features a nice mix of youth and experience, all managed by a head coach who won a championship just six years ago. Remove the names, reputations, and, well, myriad other concerns, and this would sound like a 50-win team, maybe even a contender in a weak Eastern Conference," Beck wrote.
Last season, Philly had 24 wins and finished 13th in the Eastern Conference. But now that Embiid and George had time to recover from their injuries, there's an expectation that they'd have a better chance to contend next season.
