Saturday night features a can’t-miss high school football showdown, as No. 4 St. Frances Academy travels to Florida to take on the No. 12 Chaminade-Madonna Lions in a nationally-televised contest.
St. Frances Academy, the top-ranked team in Maryland, is known for its challenging schedules and talented rosters and this year is no exception in either department. The Panthers’ will field multiple highly-rated recruits on Saturday, including five-stars Zion Elee and Jireh Edwards.
Chaminade-Madonna is a powerhouse in Florida, having won four consecutive state championships. The Lions are led by their own impressive group of stars, including four-star running back Derrek Cooper and a pair of dynamic four-star receivers in Jasen Lopez and Tromon Isaac.
Panthers to Watch
S Jireh Edwards: The 6-foot-1, 205-pound standout is the No. 16 overall prospect and No. 2 safety in the Rivals Industry Rankings, an equally weighted formula that utilizes the three major recruiting services. Edwards committed to Alabama in July.
EDGE Zion Elee: The five-star edge rusher is the No. 1 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings. Elee registered 28 tackles for loss and 10 sacks as a junior. He committed to Maryland in December.
LB DQ Forkpa: The four-star prospect is new to the St. Frances roster after transferring in from Mill Creek over the offseason. He racked up 22 tackles, two tackles for loss and three pass deflections in six games before an injury cut his junior season short. Forkpa holds offers from programs such as Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Miami and Michigan.
CB Raylaun Henry: The 5-foot-10, 160-pound defensive back is one of the top juniors in the state of Maryland. Henry ranks as the No. 113 overall prospect and No. 10 cornerback in the Rivals Industry Rankings for the class of 2027. He holds offers from programs such as Alabama, LSU, Michigan and Oregon.
EDGE Jermaine Smith: The four-star standout is the No. 88 overall prospect and No. 9 edge rusher in the Rivals Industry Rankings for the sophomore class. He already holds offers from programs such as Maryland, Ole Miss, UCF and West Virginia.
Lions to Watch
RB Derrek Cooper: The future Texas Longhorn rushed for 905 yards and 13 touchdowns on 124 carries as a junior last season. Cooper is the No. 37 overall prospect and No. 2 running back in the Rivals Industry Rankings.
WR Denairius Gray: The 6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect caught 48 passes for 709 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior for Chaminade-Madonna in 2024. He is the No. 401 overall prospect in the country according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Gray flipped from Auburn to Kentucky in July.
WR Jasen Lopez: The four-star prospect is ranked as the No. 373 overall prospect in the country according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Lopez committed to Florida State in June over offers from programs such as Florida and Miami.
WR Tromon Isaac: The 5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect is one of the top junior prospects in Florida and ranks as the No. 36 overall prospect in the country in the Rivals Industry Rankings. Isaac holds offers from program such as Georgia, Miami, Nebraska, Penn State and Tennessee.
OT Ashley Walker: The future Arkansas Razorback anchors the Chaminade-Madonna offensive line at 6-foot-7, 270-pounds. Walker committed to Arkansas in May over offers from Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss and UCF.
