The Minnesota Vikings are heading into what they hope is a new era led by second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The Michigan product will enter the season somewhat shorthanded, though, as wide receiver Jordan Addison will serve a three-game suspension due to violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Behind Addison, the Vikings are thin at receiver, with third-round draft pick Tai Felton set to slot in as Addison's short-term replacement. Because of this, the Vikings are reportedly looking to bring back a franchise legend. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Minnesota has interest in acquiring Adam Thielen.

"[The] Vikings have inquired about trading for Panthers WR Adam Thielen, per league sources," Schefter reports. "With WR Jordan Addison serving a three-game suspension and Jalen Nailor dealing with a hand injury, Thielen could wind up starting opening night for the Vikings if they can complete the trade."

The Vikings signed Thielen as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota State in 2014, and he went on to not miss a game in the first five seasons of his career. Thielen caught 534 passes in nine seasons with the Vikings and 55 touchdowns.
