The Las Vegas Aces have been the hottest team in the WNBA over the past two weeks, riding an impressive seven-game winning streak to improve their record to 21-14 ahead of Tuesday night’s matchup against the Atlanta Dream. The driving force behind the Aces’ success has been three-time MVP and star forward A’ja Wilson, who has been an unstoppable force throughout her career—and especially during this recent stretch. On Tuesday, the WNBA and the Las Vegas Aces announced that A’ja Wilson has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Aces Share Exciting News on A'ja Wilson
On Tuesday, the WNBA and the Las Vegas Aces announced that A’ja Wilson has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. She joins Indiana Fever star Kelsey Mitchell, who was honored as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
Wilson has averaged 27.0 points, 13.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game over the past week. She currently leads the entire WNBA in combined “stocks” (steals plus blocks).
“‘A’ continues to get it done on both ends of the floor, leading the league in combined stocks (STL + BLK),” the Aces posted. “Back-to-back Player of the Week honors for the reigning MVP.”

This is far from an uncommon honor for A’ja Wilson. She has long been considered the best player in the WNBA, and after a slow start to the season, the Aces have rallied to secure the third seed in the Western Conference.
Aces Closing in on Postseason Berth
They currently sit just behind the Phoenix Mercury, who hold the two-seed at 20-13 overall, though they have played two fewer games than Las Vegas.
Through 31 games this season, Wilson is averaging 22.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.6 steals, and 2.1 blocks per game, while shooting 48.9% from the field, 30.0% from three-point range, and 85.0% from the free-throw line.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Wilson’s chances at MVP, which were previously lower than Napheesa Collier and Caitlin Clark, have risen. She now trails just Collier—currently slightly favored—and Alyssa Thomas of the Mercury.
With Collier sidelined due to injury, Wilson’s chances in the MVP race could increase significantly during the final stretch of the season.
