Stock up, stock down following the New York Jets' preseason loss vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Here is the stock report for the New York Jets following Friday's 19-17 preseason finale loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The New York Jets (1-2) did not finish their three-game preseason slate the way that they had hoped after starting the preseason with a dominant win over the Green Bay Packers. After a disappointing loss to the New York Giants last week, the Jets had one last chance to see what they had left with a home matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday looming.

New York lost to Philadelphia 19-17, but it wasn't for a lack of trying as the Jets came back from a 16-3 deficit to make the game interesting in the fourth quarter. Unlike the first two games of the preseason, Jets quarterback Justin Fields did not play in this one as Brady Cook and Adrian Martinez shared the quarterback reps, potentially setting up a battle between the two for a roster spot.

In terms of passer rating, neither quarterback performed well, but Cook did have the better numbers of the two as he finished having complete 13-of-19 passes for 99 yards and one interception. With that being said, here is the stock report following Friday's narrow loss to the Eagles:

Stock Up: RB Lawrance Toafili

Toafili had one of the best performances on the team on the offensive side of the ball as he used his speed and quickness to consistently make defenders miss tackles. Toafili carried the football seven times for 38 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and one touchdown with his longest run of 19 yards being the one that he scored on while using his shiftiness to his advantage.

Stock Down: WR Malachi Corley

Corley was solid in the kick return portion of this game as he returned two kicks for 51 yards (25.5 yards per return), but the more concerning result was what he didn't do in the passing game. Corley, New York's third-round pick from 2024, finished the game with zeroes across the board in the receiving category, but he did receive just two targets during his time on the field.

Stock Up: S Malachi Moore

Moore had himself a game against the Eagles as he piled up seven tackles (four solo) along with a tackle for a loss, showing how willing he is to make an impact in the running game. Moore also pulled off a nice interception of Eagles signal-caller Kyle McCord and Moore got the chance to explain why he played so well for the Jets in the team's preseason finale.

Stock Down: Jets Third-Down Offense

One of the most glaring areas that the Jets have to work on is the passing game under Justin Fields and company as the start of the regular season is around the corner. However, against the Eagles, New York was just 3-for-12 (25%) on third down, an indicator that something within the offensive structure isn't working as intended. The Jets will have to fix that soon.

Stock Up: WR Jamaal Pritchett

Similar to Toafili, Pritchett used his speed and elusiveness to create opportunities for himself to find yards after the catch. Pritchett caught 4-of-7 targets for 54 yards and even pulled off a 25-yard catch to show how dangerous he can be with the football in his hands in open space.
