When people think of their team and their potential for success, they first think about talent. Who teams can sign, who they can draft, and how much their players can develop year after year is crucial for NFL teams. But along with developing and bringing in talent, that talent must come together and become one unit, moving towards a goal. Plenty laughed or wondered what the Titans were doing this offseason with the 4Hs: Heroes, Hardship, Highlights, and History.

With the insertion of the 4H's this offseason in Tennessee, each player was assigned to a group, and it did not matter whether that comprised of offensive, defensive, or special teams players. And each had to share the hero that inspired him, the hardships or difficult times they had to overcome, the highlights or most outstanding achievements or moments in their lives, and their history or personal background. With each person sharing, people began to learn about each other and relate to each other more, and ultimately, the vibe started to change for the Titans team going into training camp.

Plenty wondered how much this would work for the Titans, but it looks to be working even better than expected.

One prime example is Van Jefferson. He had a tough week after dropping a pass he should have caught versus the Atlanta Falcons. And some fans thought he should be released all week because of it. Van may or may not have heard the calls from fans, but he answered them with three receptions for 102 yards in the final preseason game versus the Minnesota Vikings. But the 65-yard catch and run showed how much the 4Hs have changed this team.

After he scored and capped off his best preseason game for this year, offensive players were waiting on him on the sidelines, and some defensive players were waiting to congratulate him too. Defensive players like defensive linemen Jeffery Simmons and Sebastian Joseph-Day, and others were there, along with Cameron Ward and other offensive personnel, to greet Jefferson and celebrate with him. They turned what could have been a tough week for their teammate into a joyous moment to honor him for bouncing back. And what is also unique about this is that you usually do not see defensive players celebrating an offensive player like this, especially in the preseason.

While this does not seem like much, it is big for a team to bond and build camaraderie. It can make good teams great and great teams exceptional. The Titans are trying to move from bad to good, so we shall see if it helps in building them up. What's noticeable is the difference from last year to this year, and the 4Hs could be something that takes credit for that. The season has not started officially, and there will be bumps along the road for the Titans, but early on, you can see a difference in the demeanor of the team, and that can be directly tied to the implementation of the 4Hs.
