The USC Trojans are going into the 2025 season looking to bounce back from a difficult 2024 campaign. To do that, head coach Lincoln Riley knows that he’s going to need a healthy team, including wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane.

Back in May, Lane suffered a broken foot and has been recovering since then, looking to get ready for Week 1. Now, in a new injury report, Riley shared the good news that Lane is full go and back from the foot injury.

“Ja’Kobi is full go now,” Lincoln Riley said. “He’s been full go for the last four or five days, probably. Was kind of a build up from there. He had a broken foot in May, and so had to heal up from that, but has been doing well and progressed even a little bit ahead of schedule.”

Ja’Kobi Lane is expected to be a major piece of the USC wide receiver room next season. A four-star recruit in the Class of 2023, he broke out as a sophomore last season. In 13 games, he snagged 43 receptions for 525 yards and 12 touchdowns. That was on 12.2 yards per reception.

“He’s been full go here for about the last week. So, getting back in shape and kind of getting him just kind of back in the fold after missing some of that time,” Riley said. “But you can see some of the rust starting to get knocked off now.”

USC is going to have a largely new-look receiving room. From last year’s group, Zachariah BranchDuce Robinson, and Kyron Hudson all left via the Transfer Portal. That’s left few proven options among the returning receivers. Ja’Kobi Lane is one of them. Beyond that, there’s Makai Lemon, who had 52 receptions for 764 yards and three touchdowns last year.

Recently, Lincoln Riley looked at some of the close position battles on the roster. There, he confirmed that USC is leaning on Lane and Lemon with question marks beyond those two.

“I think a couple of the receiver positions,” Riley said. “We know Lemon is gonna play a lot. We know Lane is gonna play a lot. Kind of past that, we have some really competitive battles that at a few of the receiver positions right now.”

USC is currently scheduled to open its season on August 30th against Missouri State. After that, the Trojans have another non-conference game against Georgia Southern before Big Ten play begins.
