The Missouri Tigers took a blow to their offensive line depth in Fall Camp. Just ahead of the regular season, head coach Eli Drinkwitz shared that the Tigers lost offensive lineman Logan Reichert to injury.
Reichert went down with what Drinkwitz would describe as a lower-body injury. He also projected that it’s going to cost Reichert the first six to eight weeks of the season. If that timeline holds, his preseason setback is going to keep him off the field until sometime in October.
“Logan Reichert suffered a lower-body injury two days ago that will keep him out six to eight weeks,” Eli Drinkwitz said. “So, that’s going to be really the first, hopefully only, injury that will keep somebody out of the game. We are monitoring a couple other situations, but feel good that we’ll have everybody healthy.”
Logan Reichert was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2023. A Kansas City native, he was the 495th-ranked player overall and the 28th-ranked offensive tackle in that recruiting class.
Last season, Logan Reichert played in 11 games for the Tigers. However, he missed the final two games of the season with an injury. In 2024, he was also a Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient. That came after he didn’t see any action at all in 2023, taking a redshirt for that season.
Missouri is coming off back-to-back double-digit win seasons under Eli Drinkwitz. The Tigers would finish ranked in the AP Top 25 for the season in each year and won the Cotton Bowl following the 2023 season. Despite that, Missouri is unranked in the Preseason AP Top 25 poll for this upcoming season. Drinkwitz doesn’t mind, though, as it’s become a kind of motivating factor for the Tigers.
“You know, it’s interesting. We have a something-to-prove mindset around here. So you’re always looking to add fuel to that fire. I kind of told the team the other day, we flashed it on the screen and said, ‘It’s not important, but every now and then you check out your ex-girlfriend’s Instagram page just to kind of see.’ So we’re aware of it,” Drinkwitz said.
“The reality of it is, though, Paul, I don’t remember anybody’s preseason poll from last year,” Drinkwitz said. “I don’t remember anybody’s guesses about what we were going to be. I don’t remember the SEC podcast when they thought our first loss was going to be last year or this year. So it really doesn’t matter.”
Missouri will begin its 2025 season on Thursday, August 28th. The Tigers will see Central Arkansas for that game, with the promise of a challenging SEC schedule still to come.
