Here’s where all of Missouri football's transfers and notable Tigers from previous seasons will play their college football this season.
College football is back.
Iowa State took down Kansas State in Dublin, Kansas thumped Fresno State and Hawaii walked it off against Stanford in the notable FBS matchups in Week 0. Now, the Tigers are on deck in Columbia.
Missouri football, for the fourth straight season, will open its new campaign on a Thursday night, this time with FCS-level Central Arkansas visiting Columbia. One of the unintended benefits of the midweek game, if you’re like us, is that it should free up Saturday for a full day in front of the TV for the Week 1 slate of games.
While you’re doing that, you’ll likely stumble into some names you recognize — transfers from Mizzou past.
To get you in the know ahead of the season, we tracked down all of MU’s former players who are still in college. If the information was available, we also gave you an idea of whether or not those players are in line to start for their new teams.
Here is where former Missouri players who transferred out of the program have landed:
Where have Missouri football’s recent transfers landed?
Kewan Lacy, running back, Ole Miss:The tailback will feature in the Rebels’ running back rotation this season, and some reports have surfaced that he will start for Lane Kiffin’s team.
Jaylen Brown, defensive end, South Carolina: Brown missed much of the spring with an injury and does not appear to be part of the Gamecocks’ two-deep plans this season.
Williams Nwaneri, defensive end, Nebraska: The former five-star prospect is expected to start for Nebraska at defensive end this season, which will be his redshirt freshman campaign after only featuring in four games for the Tigers last season.
Jaren Sensabaugh, cornerback, NC State: Sensabaugh is projected as a reserve defensive back by the Fayetteville Observer for this upcoming season. In the same projection, former Mizzou offensive lineman Valen Erickson is expected to start at right guard for the Wolfpack.
Mekhi Miller, wide receiver, Tulsa: Miller is a fourth-team preseason All-AAC and likely will be a starting wideout for the Golden Hurricane.
Courtney Crutchfield, wide receiver, Arkansas: Crutchfield returned to his home state after spending a season with Mizzou. He is not part of a recent Southwest Times Record depth chart projection for the Razorbacks this season.
Eddie Kelly Jr., defensive end, West Virginia: Kelly headed to play under returning WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez this season, and he looks to have earned a starting role at edge rusher.
Jahkai Lang, defensive end, SMU: Lang, a Troy product out of St. Louis, heads to the ACC and Dallas after registering three sacks as a redshirt freshman for Mizzou last season.
Ja’Marion Wayne, cornerback, Coastal Carolina: Wayne spent three seasons with MU and went through a couple position changes, starting out as a wide receiver before moving to safety and then cornerback. You’ll find him on the teal field in the Sun Belt this season.
Talan Chandler, offensive lineman, Northwestern: Speaking of unique fields … Chandler, a freshman out of Nevada, Missouri, transferred to Northwestern. He’s likely to be a backup center for the Wildcats.
Mikai Gbayor, linebacker, North Carolina: Gbayor’s short stay in Columbia saw him transfer out to UNC after spring camp. He is included in a projected two-deep of Bill Belichick’s first defense with the Tar Heels at linebacker.
Drew Pyne, quarterback, Bowling Green: Pyne could succeed another former Mizzou QB, Connor Bazelak, as the starting quarterback at Bowling Green.
Austyn Dendy, running back, Bowling Green: Like Pyne, the rookie tailback has landed with the Falcons. He switched from safety to running back ahead of the 2024 season with MU.
Brayshawn Littlejohn, linebacker, Appalachian State: Littlejohn followed former MU linebackers coach D.J. Smith to App State, where the coach is now defensive coordinator.
Luke Bauer, punter, retired: The former starting Mizzou punter transferred to Michigan, but told the Detroit Free Press he has retired from the sport in the summer.
Elsewhere, two former Mizzou players — quarterback Aidan Glover and safety Phillip Roche — do not appear to have landed at new schools ahead of the 2025 season.
Also from the 2024 roster, offensive lineman Jack McGarry is at Illinois State. Former backup punter Orion Phillips is a Utah Ute. Transfer placekicker Brady Boehm is at Ball State, while Nick Quadrini is unsigned. Punter Will Safris landed at Utah State, and longsnapper Jack Kautz is at Eastern Michigan.
Notable past transfers
Jake Garcia, quarterback, Michigan: Garcia is going to be a backup at Michigan — presumably to star freshman Bryce Underwood — this season, marking the fourth stop of his college career.
Gabarri Johnson, quarterback, Oregon State: Johnson will be the backup QB for Oregon State this season behind Duke transfer Maalik Murphy. He played as a reserve for the Beavers last year.
Sergine Tounkara, defensive end, Cal: Tounkara was a promising edge rusher but was buried in a deep room last spring. He is still at California, where he played sparingly last season but registered 1.5 sacks.
Carmycah Glass, linebacker, Houston: Glass is back at the Power-conference level, transferring to Houston from Louisiana this offseason after a 75-tackle season for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
DJ Wesolak, defensive end, Missouri State: Wesolak, after a year at Oregon State, is back in the Show-Me State, as he has transferred to Missouri State. The Boonville product and former four-star recruit appeared in three games for the Beavers last season. He will be joined by former Mizzou player Grayson Clutchlow on the roster.
Dameon Wilson, linebacker, East Carolina: Wilson is expected to be the Pirates’ starting middle linebacker this season.
Other notable former transfers
Arden Walker, defensive end, Colorado: Walker looks set to start at defensive end for the Buffaloes this season after recording 33 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in 2024.
Ja’Mori Maclin and J.J. Hester, wide receivers, Kentucky: Maclin transferred to the Wildcats ahead of the 2024 campaign from North Texas, while Hester moved this past winter from Oklahoma. UK’s offensive coordinator is former Mizzou coach Bush Hamdan.
Tyler Macon, quarterback, Alcorn State: Macon is still at Alcorn State, where he transferred after the 2022 season. He appeared in nine games last season, but threw two interceptions in 13 total pass attempts. He had one rushing touchdown.
Ma’Kyi Lee, offensive tackle, New Mexico State: The OT moved from North Texas to NMSU and looks likely to be the Aggies’ starting left tackle, per the Las Cruces News.
