The Buffalo Bills face immediate scrutiny for their latest free agent signing.
Bills face immediate backlash after signing veteran defender originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Buffalo Bills made the somewhat surprising decision to sign defensive lineman Jordan Phillips. This will be Phillips' fourth stint with the team, which made a lot of Bills fans confused, some of which were annoyed.
The Bills Chat Podcast posted on X, saying that signing Phillips to be on the 53-man roster is an admission of defeat.
"The Bills made it clear their mission this offseason was to pour resources into fixing their defensive line. Jordan Phillips signing on August 24th and being guaranteed a spot on the 53-man roster seems like, at least on the surface, an admission of failure in some regard."
Another fan notes that Phillips is 33 years old and is only adding to an already-crowded room.
"I just don’t get it. Another 3T that is 33 years old and does nothing differently than anybody you currently have??? Weird roster management for the IDL."
A big move could be coming for the Bills, though. Considering how deep their defensive line is, perhaps they are gearing up for a trade.
