Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu has decided to give Petar Sucic his Serie A debut against Torino. This evening’s Serie A opening day clash kicks off at 20.45 CET.

Inter Milan begin their Serie A season this evening against Torino.

The Nerazzurri are starting their first league season under Cristian Chivu coach after the Romanian took over following the resignation of Simone Inzaghi.

Chivu has already coached four matches for Inter at the Club World Cup. However, this evening will be his first Serie A match in charge of the Nerazzurri.

Meanwhile, Torino are also starting a new season with a new coach. They appointed former Lazio, Hellas Verona, and Lecce coach Marco Baroni over the summer.

Firstly, Chivu has decided to use the 3-5-2 formation in his first Serie A match as Inter coach.

The 44-year-old had tested out a 3-4-2-1 shape during the Club World Cup. Moreover, reports indicate that this is a formation that he wants to use in the long term.

However, Chivu has gone with the 3-5-2 shape this evening.

Therefore, it is a familiar system for Inter from both Inzaghi and Antonio Conte’s time in charge.

Furthermore, Chivu has also mostly gone with a starting eleven of players who had played a big role under Inzaghi. Therefore, there is only one new face in the starting eleven.

Petar Sucic is the most notable name on the Inter teamsheet.

The Nerazzurri signed the 21-year-old Croatian international from Dinamo Zagreb in June.

And with Hakan Calhanoglu unavailable through suspension, Chivu has given Sucic the nod in his first Serie A match at the club.

The Croat starts alongside the likes of Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Meanwhile, Yann Sommer starts in goal.

Then, in defense it is the familiar trio of Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi, and Benjamin Pavard.

On the flanks, meanwhile, Chivu has started Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries.

Lastly, in attack Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram keep their places as starters from much of the last two seasons.

Therefore, the likes of Ange-Yoan Bonny, Luis Henrique, and Andy Diouf are all on the bench. However, the three summer signings could get their chance to make their debuts as substitutes.

Meanwhile, there are no players out with injuries, with Davide Frattesi returning after undergoing abdominal surgery over the summer.

However, apart from Hakan Calhanoglu, striker Francesco Pio Esposito is also serving a one-match suspension this evening.
