Ian Rapoport says teams around the NFL are checking in on possible trades for Micah Parsons, as well as for Trey Hendrickson with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, as far as Dallas goes, the Cowboys still aren’t looking to move him in a deal.
Hosting ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Monday, Ian Rapoport provided the latest about what he’s hearing about trade possibilities of both Parsons and Hendrickson. He noted that teams have been checking in on potential deals for both, with him again naming the Packers as a possibility for Parsons as he did last week.
“Uh, yes,” said Rapoport. “There are teams (reaching out about trades) for both (Parsons and Trey Hendrickson).”
“I mean, you know, we talked about the Packers,” Rapoport when asked which franchises were doing so in these scenarios.
However, Rapoport said the Cowboys continue to not consider any deal involving Parsons, who remains in a contract dispute with Dallas with a trade request made earlier this month. Part of that also is an issue on the other side of the trade due to just how much a team would have to give up, namely in draft capital, in order to acquire him.
“I don’t get the sense the Cowboys are listening,” said Rapoport.
“The Cowboys deal is different. Like, Micah? If you’re trading for Micah, it’s going to be all the picks,” Rapoport said. “It’ll be the Herschel Walker.”
Adam Schefter reveals likelihood Parsons plays in Week 1
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said it’s fair to question if Micah Parsons will actually suit up for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 when they play against the Philadelphia Eagles. He hasn’t practiced in training camp, citing back tightness, amid a standoff in contract negotiations in which Parsons nor the Cowboys have budged. Since a trade doesn’t seem to be on the horizon, it’s now a matter of watching Parsons on the field or the sideline to kickoff the season.
“We are getting close to the start of the regular season opener. He has not practiced this summer due to a back injury, back tightness,” Schefter said this morning on ‘Get Up;. “Now, the Cowboys took an MRI on it, said it came back clean. I think Micah Parsons would tell you that his back is tight. Doesn’t feel right, so he does not practice … He’s got a tight back. The Cowboys regular season opener is a week from Thursday night in Philadelphia, and the fact of the matter is, if he’s out there at all, he’ll be limited because he hasn’t gone through practice at all.”
“That’s the short-term picture. There’s obviously a lot to this. We’ll get to all of it, but we’re talking about the game Thursday night, practice, no practice. So we’ll see if you can make it out there next week. And I would say, right now, that is very much in question.”
