Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward made it clear that there's no rivalry and only friendship with Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Titans’ Cam Ward addresses ‘rivalry’ with Browns’ Shedeur Sanders originally appeared on The Sporting News
For those hoping to stir issues between the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward, and fifth-round Cleveland Browns selection Shedeur Sanders, you won’t find the former fueling that fire.
Ward shared that not only is there no rivalry, but the two have kept up a friendship from when they worked out together with Virginia Tech Hokie Kyron Drones.
“I don't have a rivalry with him. That’s my boy. At the end of the day, this whole process, we thought me and him were gonna be 1 and 2 the whole time. ... That's just always been our mindset. It didn't go that way, but just coming out of college, even to the draft, I thought he was one of the better quarterbacks in the draft as well,” Ward said on Bartstool Sports’ “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast.
As Drones shared, Sanders doesn’t care what anyone says about him.
“A lot of people got their own opinions about Shedeur and they don’t really know him,” Drones said to Athlon Sports. “He doesn’t care what people say. He’s going to go out there and play football.”
The “Grown QB” just said as much himself last week.
Sanders has been the subject of QB beef during the Browns’ preseason as well. Some took comments from Dillon Gabriel during the team’s second preseason matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles about “entertainers and competitors” as a shot at Sanders.
Sanders didn’t necessarily say it wasn’t. He just doesn’t care about any manufactured narrative at this point.
“Honestly, I don’t even think about anything. Words or anything, you know at this point, can’t do anything to me. I know that God put the ability and power within me to not even think about nobody else’s comments and not care. It is what it is. I spoke with him. He told me on the plane. He came up to me and was like, ‘Nah, bro, that wasn’t at you. I see how they trying to spin it.’ I’m not gonna lie, I’m not tripping, regardless of whatever it was. Nobody’s words or anything affects me,” Sanders said last week.
Sanders has no enemy in Ward or Gabriel. He may not have enemies at all.
That won’t stop narratives from flying in every direction, because controversy creates cash.
