Seahawks waive Jerrick Reed II

After making a name for himself on special teams as a rookie, injuries derailed Reed’s time in Seattle.

The second season of the Mike Macdonald era is about to begin for the Seattle Seahawks, and there is no shortage of debate regarding which youngsters will or will not make the roster.

Specifically, as the team prepares for their Week 1 matchup against the division rival San Francisco 49ers, there has been plenty of attention paid to which members of the fringes of the roster have or have not been asked to contribute on special teams.

With that in mind, a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero Tuesday indicates that one member of the special teams units for the Seahawks the past couple of seasons will be waived.

As Pelissero notes in his post, Jerrick Reed II was an All-Rookie special teamer in 2023 under Pete Carroll and then special teams coordinator Larry Izzo, but a knee injury that ended his rookie campaign and led to Reed missing most of the first two months of 2024.
