Every time I look at the Celtics current roster, it kind of makes my head spin. Assuming everyone is healthy (never a great assumption, but let’s go with it for now) you have to write in Jaylen Brown and Derrick White as starters in permanent ink. Beyond that, I hesitate to even use a pencil to write down anyone else’s name. Mostly because I’ve chewed off the eraser.
There are so many different combinations to consider. Does Payton Pritchard stay the 6th man or does he graduate to the starting lineup? Does Anfernee Simons start (to make sure he’s showcased) or does he transition into a highly paid bench scorer (which might be a showcase of a different sort). How about Sam Hauser or Chris Boucher? Do you go big or small? And of course, what about the much maligned center position?
It is possible that none of this will matter 3 months (or 3 weeks) from now, but it is something worth discussing as we wait for training camp to begin.
