Like it does each year, the state of Texas will provide us with some of the nation’s best high school football again during the 2025 season. Four teams from the Lone Star State open the season in the top-25 of the Rivals Composite High School Football Team Rankings, with only California holding down more spots.
And the state again features of load of talent in the 2026, 2027 and 2028 classes, with more than 120 blue-chip prospects across the seniors, juniors and sophomores. As the football season kicks off in earnest this weekend, Rivals breaks down some of the top prospects in each class to watch over the next few months:
OT Felix Ojo
School:Lake Ridge (Mansfield, TX)
Rivals Industry Rating: 97.19 (No. 12 NATL.)
Status: Committed to Texas Tech
The hulking 6-foot-6, 275-pounder is the top player in the Lone Star State as a senior, anchoring Lake Ridge’s offensive line as they look to improve on a 1-11 season in 2024. Ojo drew offers from across the country, but ultimately chose the Red Raiders over Texas and Ohio State.
QB Keisean Henderson
School:Legacy SSS (Houston, TX)
Rivals Industry Rating: 96.63 (No. 18 NATL.)
Status: Committed to Houston
Much like Ojo, Henderson spurned some of nation’s top programs to commit to Willie Fritz and the Cougars. The state’s No. 2 senior, he led the Titans to a 6-4 record as a junior. During that campaign, he completed 173 of 263 passes (65.7%) for 2,689 yards and 25 touchdowns, while adding 347 yards and seven more scores on the ground.
RB KJ Edwards
School:Carthage (Carthage, TX)
Rivals Industry Rating: 94.61 (No. 51 NATL.)
Status: Committed to Texas A&M
As a junior, Edwards totaled 1,789 yards and 23 TDs while averaging an eye-popping 12.6 yards per carry. He showed off his skills in the receiving game as well, adding 30 receptions for 383 yards and 3 TDs as Carthage won the Class 4A-Division II state title. Over the course of his three-year career, Edwards has amassed more than 4,000 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns while averaging better than 11 yards per attempt.
WR Boobie Feaster
School:DeSoto (DeSoto, TX)
Rivals Industry Rating: 94.44 (No. 52 NATL.)
Status: Committed to USC
Playing for state traditional state powerhouse DeSoto, Feaster was a breakout star as a sophomore. He caught 57 passes for 824 yards (14.5 YPC) and 13 touchdowns while helping the Eagles reach quarterfinals of the 6A D-II state playoffs. He also opted to move from the Class of 2027 to 2026 in hopes of getting a jump-start on his college career. The Trojans are getting one of the nation’s most dynamic players with the ball in his hands with Feaster.
OL John Turntine
School:North Crowley (Fort Worth, TX)
Rivals Industry Rating: 94.33 (No. 55 NATL.)
Status: Committed to Texas
Turntine helped to anchor one of the state’s top offensive lines in 2024, alongside Missouri signee Henry Fenuku. Now he’ll be one of the unquestioned leaders of the team as the Panthers look to repeat after winning the Class 6A-I title last year for the first time in decades. After a lengthy recruiting process that saw him draw offers from coast to coast, the 6-foot-3, 260-pounder committed to the Longhorns in July.
