Here are the Packers players who were not on the 53-man roster at any time last year who made the team heading into the 2025 season.
GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers have a lot of continuity on the team heading into the 2025 season, but there are some new faces they will rely on to achieve their goals.
On the initial 53-man roster, there are 11 players making their first appearance.
Here’s a look at those players:
Matthew Golden (No. 22)
The first wide receiver drafted in the first round by the Packers since 2002, Golden prepares for his rookie season in Green Bay after a strong college season at Texas. After making a strong impression in training camp and preseason games with his flashy speed and impressive ball-catching ability, Golden could be a key piece to the receiver room in 2025.
Savion Williams (No. 83)
A wide receiver drafted in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Williams spent four seasons at TCU. Williams has battled injuries throughout training camp, but he showcased his speed and athleticism when on the field.
Aaron Banks (No. 65)
Banks signed a four-year, $77 million deal with the Packers during free agency after four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
The Packers added Banks, an experienced guard who was a starter in Super Bowl LVIII, to beef up the offensive line.
After the Packers let Josh Myers go in free agency, they moved Elgton Jenkins from left guard to center. Banks is now filling the guard spot.
Anthony Belton (No. 71)
The offensive tackle was the 54th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft after playing collegiately at North Carolina State.
Belton saw a lot of playing time during preseason and the Packers hope he can provide some depth on the line.
Darian Kinnard (No. 70)
The Packers signed the offensive lineman Aug. 25, a day before the NFL’s cutdown day, to add depth on the line.
Kinnard was traded to Green Bay from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and spent two seasons there before playing last season in Philadelphia. He’s been on three consecutive Super Bowl teams.
Nate Hobbs (No. 21)
Hobbs signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Packers during free agency after four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders.
A physical cornerback, Hobbs made a strong impression early in camp before having knee surgery Aug. 5 to repair a partial tear in his meniscus.
Barryn Sorrell (No. 99)
Sorrell was selected by the Packers in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft after four seasons at Texas.
The edge rusher had a very active training camp and coaches were impressed with his play during preseason games. Sorrell is recovering from a sprained MCL.
Warren Brinson (No. 91)
Brinson was drafted by the Packers with the 198th overall pick in the sixth round of this year’s NFL draft.
He played four seasons at Georgia, where he won two national championships.
Brinson has been competing at defensive tackle.
Nazir Stackhouse (No. 93)
Despite winning two national titles at Georgia and earning All-SEC honors twice, Stackhouse went undrafted before signing with the Packers as a free agent.
Stackhouse made a strong impression as a nose tackle and earned a spot on the roster.
The Packers extended their streak to 21 seasons of placing at least one undrafted free agent on the Week 1 roster, dating to 2005.
Donovan Jennings (No. 67)
Jennings has been with Packers since the 2024 season but spent all of last year on the practice squad.
The offensive lineman re-signed with the team in January. This is his first time making an appearance on the 53-man roster. Jennings provides depth on the interior line.
Nick Niemann (No. 51)
The Packers added the fifth-year player Aug. 27 to provide depth at linebacker and perform on special teams.
Niemann spent four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, playing a total of 1,298 snaps on special teams and 363 on defense. He led the Chargers in tackles on special teams in three of his four seasons with the club.
He signed with the Houston Texans in March but was cut on the NFL's cutdown day, allowing him to join Green Bay.
