The Steelers countdown to kickoff is here — and we’re at 10 days until Pittsburgh faces off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. In the spirit of the countdown, we’re taking a look at the history of No. 10 and the players who wore it best.
Current Steelers No. 10 wearer: WR Roman Wilson
Selected with the 84th pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, WR Roman Wilson is the current No. 10 wearer on the Steelers roster. After practically missing the entirety of his rookie season due to injury, Wilson looks primed for a Year 2 breakout in 2025. The dynamic wideout is expected to make a major impact for the Aaron Rodgers-led offense this upcoming season.
Last five Steelers to wear No. 10:
- Roman Wilson, 2024–present
- Mitchell Trubisky, 2022–2023
- Corliss Waitman, 2021
- Ryan Switzer, 2018–2019
- Martavis Bryant, 2014–2017
Best No. 10 in Steelers history: QB Kordell Stewart
The best No. 10 wearer in Steelers history is none other than Kordell Stewart. Selected with the 60th overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft, Stewart lived up to his "Slash" nickname in Pittsburgh — playing a variety of roles on the Steelers offense.
After being used primarily as a pass catcher and runner during his first two seasons, Stewart was finally named the starting QB in 1997 — leading Pittsburgh to an 11-5 record and becoming the first QB in franchise history to throw for 20 touchdowns while also rushing for 10 in a single season.
Stewart finished his eight-year Steelers career with 14,746 passing yards and 70 passing touchdowns — the third-most all-time by a Steeler, behind only legends Terry Bradshaw and Ben Roethlisberger. He also added 2,561 rushing yards and is tied for the third-most rushing touchdowns in franchise history with 35. He earned Pro Bowl recognition in 2001 — but despite the lone accolade, he is more than deserving of being named the greatest Steeler to ever wear No. 10.
