It is not just the fans of the Boston Celtics who have found themselves ready to declare war on former Boston big man and current ESPN broadcaster Kendrick Perkins for some of the things he has said. All the way back when he was still a Celtics center, he was irking people with what cam out of his mouth, or at least that is the tale we just heard from Hall of Fame Boston forward Paul Pierce.
Speaking in a recent interview with fellow New England sports legend Julian Edelman on the latter's "Games With Names" podcast, The Truth broke down the broad strokes of such a situation with Big Perk in the Ubuntu era of the Celtics, though he would not disclose the specifics of the situation explicitly. "We had a team meeting," said Pierce.
"There was a disconnect between the older guys and the younger guys on the team, and then I remember Kendrick Perkins said something," he continued. "All I know, we all were on the plane and all the coaches were on the bus because we were clearing the air."
"Perk said something that turned on another switch of evil to (fellow Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett), "I thought Kevin was going to kill Perk. Like for real, kill him. I saw it in his eyes; it was just the most intense moment."
We may never know what specifically the disconnect was or what it was that Perk said that set KG off, but we have since had plenty of harsh takes from the former Boston big since his transformation into a hot take engine to have enough of an idea of the sort of things it could have been.
