Falcons place Bralen Trice on injured reserve

It’s another blow for a promising young player who has yet to suit up in the regular season.

The Atlanta Falcons have been suffering from an end of summer rash of injuries, one that has seen them lose Kaleb McGary for the season and Storm Norton and Ta’Quon Graham for at least a month. Now we can unfortunately add Bralen Trice to that growing list.

Trice had been recuperating from an injury that cost him his entire rookie season, and now will miss another significant chunk of time. He is eligible to return at some point this season if he’s healthy, but we don’t have any idea when that will be at this moment.

This is a huge disappointment for Trice and a bummer for the team, as well. Through his college career and the glimpses of him that we’ve had of him in camp and preseason, Trice has shown promising pass rushing and run stopping ability, making him a potentially valuable addition to the outside linebacker room. Unfortunately, he has yet to make it on the field in the regular season, and we’re going to have to wait to see him once more.

The Falcons can either promote Khalid Kareem from the practice squad to fill his spot, sign someone to the active roster, or simply roll on with five outside linebackers. The latter would seem unlikely with the team also carrying just five interior defensive linemen, potentially leaving this Falcons defense too thin, but we’ll find out soon enough.

We wish Trice well and hope to have an update about his timeline soon, and with any luck, he’ll return to make an impact in the 2025 season.
