MVS is the magic touch.
49ers' Brock Purdy is going to win MVP for this wild Marquez Valdes-Scantling reason originally appeared on The Sporting News
Marquez Valdes-Scantling has something magical going on with him.
The speedy veteran wide receiver has played with an MVP quarterback in each of the past five seasons.
Specifically, a QB that MVS has played with in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 won either the regular season or Super Bowl MVP award in that same season.
NFL content producer Dov Kleiman shared the list on X on Thursday:
- 2020: Aaron Rodgers: MVP
- 2021: Aaron Rodgers: MVP
- 2022: Patrick Mahomes: MVP/SB MVP
- 2023: Patrick Mahomes: SB MVP
- 2024: Josh Allen: MVP

The 49ers picked Valdes-Scantling up this week after the Saints cut him.
And unless you think Spencer Rattler is going to win the MVP for New Orleans after spending the summer with MVS, it comes down to Purdy.
49ers fans would surely take a Super Bowl MVP. That would mean San Francisco hoisted the Lombardi Trophy.

That's probably the more likely Purdy MVP trophy, too. There are so many statistically dominant quarterbacks that it's hard to see Purdy winning the regular season award, especially if Christian McCaffrey stays healthy and takes a lot of the offensive production for the 'Niners.
But these apparently are the rules of the universe, which is evidently at the mercy of MVS. A big season could be coming for Purdy and the 49ers.
