One of the newer faces for the Braves gets another shot at shortstop
The lineups for tonight’s series opener between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies are out and while the Braves aren’t making many wholesale changes, one thing that sticks out is one player in particular who is in the lineup for a second straight day.
Here’s the lineup for the Braves:
As you can see, that’s a pretty standard lineup for the Braves (at least as of right now) and Vidal Bruján is getting his second start in a row at the position. This is the second time in a relatively short span that Bruján has made starts on consecutive days, as he started two of the games against the Mets last week. Bruján has actually been pretty solid at the plate for the Braves since making his debut for the team on August 9 — he’s hit .273/.407/.318 with a .339 wOBA and 117 wRC+ over 27 plate appearances. He has yet to hit a homer but he’s driven in three runs and scored five runs during that span. That’ll do, I suppose.
Anyways, here’s the lineup for the Phillies:
The uniforms are cool but yeah, you know ‘em, you hate ‘em, and the gang is (mostly) all here. Nick Castellanos is on the bench to start this one in favor of Max Kepler, who has moved from left field to right field. Brandon Marsh is filling in in left field for tonight’s game.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. ET.
