Deion Sanders will be embarking on a new journey during the 2025 season. Colorado's head coach has made himself an indispensable part of the college football landscape in recent years.

But after facing an offseason bladder cancer diagnosis and subsequent bladder removal, Sanders is making waves in another way. Sanders, 57, is expected to sport adult diapers throughout the 2025 campaign.

Sanders' decision to rock the disposable undergarments is not a fashion choice, at least not in the traditional sense. Rather' it's an attempt to quell the effects of incontinence, an uncontrolled leakage of urine common in bladder cancer patients.

With that, here's what you need to know about Sanders' use of diapers in 2025.

Does Deion Sanders wear diapers?

Adult diapers are typically associated with senior citizens. But anyone can deal with incontinence, including Sanders, whose operation brought forth some urine-related complications.

"I'm still dealing with going to the bathroom. It's a whole life change," Sanders said during his July 28 press conference announcing his condition. "I'm gonna be transparent. I can't pee like I used to pee. It's totally different."

"I cannot control my bladder, so I get up to go to the bathroom already four or five times a night. ... so if you see port-a-potty on the sideline, it's real. I'm just telling you right now, you're gonna see it."

Sanders hopes that his openness with his illness and recovery will break down the stigma attached to incontinence.

"If it could happen to Prime,” Sanders said, “it could happen to you."

Sanders' diaper of choice comes from Depend. The absorbent undergarment is made by Kimberly-Clark, the same company that makes Huggies.

Sanders made a nod to the endorsement during his July 28 presser.

“I depend on Depend, if you know what I mean,” Sanders said.  “I truly depend on Depend. I cannot control my bladder.”

What type of cancer did Deion Sanders have?

Sanders was diagnosed with bladder cancer during the offseason. According to the Mayo Clinic, the illness starts "in the cells that line the inside of your bladder." Most bladder cancers are found "at an early stage, when the cancer is highly treatable."

There are three types of bladder cancer. They are as follows:

  • Urothelial carcinoma
  • Squamous cell carcinoma
  • Adenocarcinoma

The most common type of bladder cancer is urothelial carcinoma, while the rarest is adenocarcinoma. It's unclear which type of bladder cancer Sanders was diagnosed with.

Common symptoms associated with bladder cancer include the following, per the Mayo Clinic.:

  • Blood in urine, which could cause the urine to appear bright red
  • Frequent urination
  • Painful urination
  • Back pain

By undergoing bladder removal surgery, Sanders greatly reduced the likelihood of the cancer returning at a later point.

How does Deion Sanders pee during games?

To pee, Sanders must push through his stomach and "force the pee out", he told former teammate Michael Irvin during a July 28 appearance on his podcast. Sanders suggested that Porta Potties could be placed on the sideline. He is also likely to sport Depend diapers while barking out orders during games.
