The Buffalo Bills need help on the defensive side of the ball, specifically in the secondary. The Bills are very thin at safety. Taylor Rapp is a proven commodity, but even so, he isn't a top 10 safety in the league. Damar Hamlin isn't very good and had a very bad preseason, and Cole Bishop is entering Year Two and is already always hurt.

Luckily for the Bills, a solution just fell in their laps in the form of a former New England Patriots starter. Per Adam Schefter, the Patriots made the surprising decision to cut starting safety Jabrill Peppers.

"[The] Patriots are releasing veteran safety Jabrill Peppers, per source," Schefter reports. "Peppers still has $4.32 million guaranteed remaining on his contract for this season. Peppers has started 85 games, including 26 with New England, and has totaled over 500 tackles, seven interceptions, six forced fumbles, and seven fumble recoveries in the NFL."

If the Bills are able to sign Peppers, this is a no-brainer. Sign Peppers, start him alongside Rapp, and move on from Hamlin, keeping Bishop as the No. 3 safety. The Bills need proven players, not projects they keep around for sentimental reasons.
