The Philadelphia Eagles have announced their team captains for the 2025 NFL season, and, just like in 2022, there's a first-timer on the list, three to be exact, marking an emotional moment.

Like Jordan Mailata last season, Saquon Barkley, Zack Baun, and Reed Blankenship all became captains for the first time as Eagles, and for Baun and Blankenship, it's the first time in their NFL careers.

"It's amazing," said Baun, who is entering his second season in Philadelphia. "It's awesome. (It's) better than any achievement I've gotten to date. It means a lot because it's something that's voted on by my teammates."

"It's always been my dream to become a captain, just regardless of where I'm at," said Blankenship, who added how the veterans in Philadelphia helped mold him into the leader he is now. "I feel like that is one of the best things you can do as a teammate. It goes far beyond just having the 'C' on your chest, that's how I've always looked at it. With all my teammates trusting in me and voting for me, it just means the world.

"I think I've been a captain at each level of my football career, and I don't take it lightly. I feel like it's a big motivator and encouragement for me. Just knowing that my teammates look at me when things aren't going as planned, it means a lot."

The Eagles took a team vote, which the team's official website just announced.

Those captains are quarterback Saquon Barkley, Zack Baun, Reed Blankenship, Jalen Hurts, wide receiver A.J. Brown, Jordan Mailata, kicker Jake Elliott, and right tackle Lane Johnson.

Arguably the best right tackle in the NFL, the Eagles are almost unbeatable when Johnson's in the lineup.

Saquon Barkley (1st)

Barkley is a first-time captain after a 2,005-yard regular season.

Reed Blankenship (1st)

A former undrafted free agent, Blankenship is one of the top young safeties in the NFL.
