Barcelona manager Hansi Flick loves visiting Madrid

The coach has a fantastic record in the capital

Barcelona travel to Madrid on Sunday for their third and final La Liga match before the first international break of the season to face Rayo Vallecano in Vallecas, and Hansi Flick will return to a place he sure loves to visit.

The German will make his seventh trip to the Spanish capital as Barça manager this weekend, and his record is simply sensational: five wins, one draw, and zero defeats in away games played in Madrid.

Rayo Vallecano were the first victim of Flick’s Madrid trips, with a 2-1 win in Matchday 3 of last season. The Santiago Bernabéu was the next stop, and Flick’s Barça put the world on notice with a spectacular performance and a 4-0 thrashing of Real Madrid that proved his team was for real.

The third game in Madrid was the only one that didn’t end up in a victory, as Getafe used their tricks and found a way to hold Barça to a 1-1 draw last January. But the next visit to the capital ended in a memorable 4-2 win against Atlético Madrid in which Barça overcame a 2-0 deficit in the last 25 minutes at the Metropolitano.

The final two visits ended in 1-0 victories, one in the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atlético, and the other against Leganés which was a huge step towards winning the league title.

Now Flick returns to the capital for the first time this season looking to keep his unbeaten streak alive, hopefully with all three points to ensure a perfect start to the first month of the campaign.
