Bryan Battle got his shot at redemption last night (Fri., Aug. 29, 2025), making his Dirty Boxing Championship debut against Derik Freitas on the main card of DBX 3 inside The Hangar in Miami, Fla., and it was a rather easy night at the office for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) castaway.
As soon as the fight started you just knew it would end bad for Freitas, who was throwing wild, looping haymakers looking for the Hail Mary shot. Battle, obviously, saw them coming a mile away and defended well, before barely clipping his foe and dropping him to the canvas.
After seemingly waving off the fight, the referee allowed Freitas to get back up to his feet, only to get dropped seconds later by a barrage of strikes from Battle, who had to refrain himself from piling on the punishment after Freitas latched on to his leg for dear life. In the end, Freitas didn’t answer the count in time and the ref waved it off.
It was a rather sloppy fight to say the least because Freitas looked like your average Joe off the street sent in to get slaughtered by an ex-UFC fighter. He had no technique, no power, no chance. For Battle, he can go home happy knowing he made weight (see it here) and is a winner in his first fight since getting the boot from UFC for failing to make weight for his UFC 319 fight.
Whether or not it’s good enough to impress the UFC higher-ups, is another story.
