Chelsea to go all out for Fermin Lopez before the window closes

Chelsea will reportedly ‘go all out’ to sign Fermin Lopez this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Blues are keen on bringing the Spaniard to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are trying to reinforce the attacking midfielder area and have turned to Lopez after letting Xavi Simons slip through their grasp.

The West Londoners are now trying to convince Lopez about a switch to the Premier League.

After that, Chelsea must also cough up an offer worth around €90 million (less than his €500 million release clause) to Barcelona. His contract runs till 2029.

According to the report, Barcelona will only let the 22-year-old go if he asks to leave and Chelsea meet their asking price.

The tone around the transfer has changed from a couple of days ago, when the Spanish international seemed reluctant about a move to Chelsea.

Several reports have mentioned that Chelsea will continue to push to finalise a deal as they bid to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad for the upcoming season.

Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer picked up a knock before the game against West Ham United and had been struggling for some time.

After playing a ludicrous amount of minutes last season, it is no surprise. The Blues need an able deputy, and Lopez is a good fit.

However, it makes no sense for the Blues to push ahead with a deal for Lopez, considering they already have the talented Kendry Paez waiting in the wings.

Estevao Willian can also cover the number 10 role. He had spoken about wanting to play through the middle.

Palmer’s absence would have been an opportunity for him to show he can handle the task.

To make matters more complicated, Chelsea are close to sealing a deal to sign Facundo Buonanotte on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

There is currently no space in the squad for Lopez, but that has not stopped Chelsea from pursuing his signature.
