Dani Ceballos’ proposed departure from Real Madrid was the single biggest soap opera at the club which finally culminated in the player having no offers on his table.

Initially set to move to Marseille, Ceballos had an agreement in place with the French club and even waited for Real Madrid to complete talks and reach an agreement.

At the last minute, however, the Spaniard rejected the deal and hoped for Real Betis to come in hunting for his signing. Los Verdiblancosdid not consider it to be a priority and thus did not table any offer, leaving the player stranded.

No Italian interest

One of the other big clubs that were interested in signing the Real Madrid star earlier this month was Juventus and news of Ceballos’ transfer falling apart has unsurprisingly brought the links back on the media.

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano in a recent update, however, the Italian giants are not plotting a move for Ceballos as it stands.

There has been no initiation of talks with the player nor any contacts between Juventus and Ceballos or Real Madrid. They are not working on the deal in any capacity and the player, thus, will likely stay in Madrid.

Already 29 years of age, the midfielder was looking to move to an elite European club that could guarantee him regular minutes.

But with the player himself backing out of a move to Marseille and Juventus not considering a transfer, Ceballos will stay put at Real Madrid for another season.

The Spaniard will now fight for a place under Xabi Alonso, although it is complicated given the rise of Franco Mastantuono and Arda Guler, and the imminent return from injury of Eduardo Camavinga.

Ceballos saw a few minutes off the bench in Real Madrid’s two La Liga games so far and will likely continue in the same capacity moving forward.
