Welcome to the 2025 Texas Longhorns Football season. In many ways, today's game in Columbus has been hyped for years. Ever since it was rumored five-star quarterback recruit Arch Manning was considering Texas as his college destination, the anticipation for a Manning to lead the Longhorns has been building for a long time.
Manning has had to wait his turn. But after two years as an understudy and a lifetime of exposure to football through his famous quarterbacking family, Arch should be ready.
That said, on the road at Ohio State is a tough task for your first game as QB1. Manning's dad Cooper is happy Arch got at least a couple of starts under his belt before taking the field at the famed Horseshoe on the campus of Ohio State.
Of course, this game is a rematch of the Cotton Bowl semifinal of last years's college football playoff in which the Buckeyes bested Texas 28-14. OSU would go on and win the national title against Notre Dame.
It's also the first time in history the No. 1 team has faced the No. 2 team (in the US LBM Coaches Poll) in Week 1 and it's the first time ever the preseason No. 1 team has been an underdog to open the season.
