The Denver Broncos have expressed interest in bringing back running back Blake Watson, but his return won't happen anytime soon, according to reports.

On Saturday, Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette tweeted:

"After recently waiving RB Blake Watson, Broncos have interest in signing him to practice squad but they would have to wait at least 3 weeks after agreeing to injury settlement with him. Watson suffered PCL strain at New Orleans and is busy rehabbing what isn't a long-term injury."

While the injury is not considered long-term, NFL rules require the Broncos to wait at least three weeks before re-signing him.

The Broncos' backfield already features several running backs. J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and Jaleel McLaughlin occupy key roles, supported by Tyler Badie, who rounds out the group.

Watson was signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He saw limited action last season, recording four carries for 10 yards and one reception for 13 yards across two games.

Making the 53-man roster was always a challenge for Watson, given the depth of the Broncos' running back group. After he was waived last Monday, many projected he would soon join the practice squad. It now appears that the move is likely to happen shortly.
