No one in Tuscaloosa was pleased with what was an upset in the opening loss for No. 8 Alabama to Florida State on Saturday. It’s part of the reason of how they lost, though, that should be their biggest concern from what Emmanuel Acho saw on some of the tape.

In a video posted online this afternoon, Acho broke down some of the lack of effort and energy he saw from the Crimson Tide in the 31-17 loss at Florida State. He knew, if their previous tenure was still in place under Nick Saban, ‘Bama “would be pulling scholarships today” after some of what he watched on the film.

Alabama fans, I don’t know what to tell you, but I am sorry,” said Acho. “Nick Saban would be pulling scholarships today – today. Nick Saban, if you were the coach, would be pulling scholarships today, because what in the world is this?”

“Nick Saban would be pulling scholarships today. Don’t pass go, don’t collect $200 – just give me your scholarship. Just give me your scholarship,” said Acho. “Scholarships – scholarships would be getting pulled if Nick Saban were the head coach. Scholarships would be getting yanked if Nick Saban were the head coach. He would just send the players back to their high schools, and he would cover the gas money.”

Acho specifically broke down one play, which ended in the 32-yard end-around reverse touchdown towards the start of the second quarter for WR Micahi Danzy that gave the Seminoles a lead they’d never again give up in the two-score victory. On that play, Acho circled DB Bray Hubbard for jogging at the second level of the defense while later noting the lack of play recognition by DB Red Morgan as well as for the jogging and angle taken by DB Keon Sabb once Danzy got into, and eventually past, their secondary.

To be clear, the expectation of what Alabama was under Saban is nearly impossible to meet. That said, a play breakdown like this isn’t even meeting the expectation of that program period for the Crimson Tide, now led by Kalen DeBoer. It’s also not the only play that has been put on display online in questioning this new edition and tenure at Alabama.

As Acho said, and is known in life, energy and effort are controllable factors. So, seeing none of either in his clip, Acho went on to say how far things must now have recently fallen at Alabama.

“This ain’t Alabama Football,” stated Acho.
