Ducks not budging on moving Mason McTavish
Anaheim not planning on trading top remaining unsigned RFA originally appeared on The Sporting News
Mason McTavish remains one of the few remaining unsigned RFA's as training camp is underway across the National Hockey League. Reportedly the Ducks and McTavish are "not close" when it comes to extension talks.
This contract standoff has got NHL GMs around the league checking in on the potential availability of the 23 year old forward if he and his Anaheim team are unable to come to an agreement soon. McTavish is a hot commodity in the game as a power forward with size and a scoring touch.
Anaheim Ducks GM Pat Verbeek has recently made his stance very clear to NHL teams vying for the services of his prized possession as contract talks continue with the young forward.
Where the Ducks stand with McTavish trade talks
Via insider Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts, the Ducks have no interest in trading the 52 point forward. Pat Verbeek has told teams inquiring on his asset to "get lost."
Mason McTavish as well does not appear interested in leaving Anaheim as he has reportedly not asked for a trade according to insider Pierre LeBrun. Despite the issues he faces in contract negotiations with the squad, McTavish still seems to align himself with the Ducks.
Despite being far apart in contract talks when it comes to value and term, Anaheim is still clearly focused on getting a deal done eventually with McTavish as the season draws near. The Ducks still view him as a core piece of their future offensive pipeline and are intent on solidifying his place there.
