Things are going from bad to worse for Graham Potter and West Ham United.

The Hammers lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace at the London Stadium on Saturday, with the result putting enormous pressure on the English boss.

According to The Guardian, ‘Potter is facing the sack’ after the club’s fourth loss from five Premier League matches.

The under-fire manager insisted he retained the support of the board but it is understood he will be dismissed unless the team’s results improve soon.

The Hammers currently sit in 18th place in the table after collecting just three points from five matches and conceding an incredible 13 goals.

The board are yet to make a final decision on Potter’s future but they have already started identifying potential replacements for him

Asked is he still felt he had the support of the club’s board, Potter said: ““Yeah, I have no reason to think not but I also understand the environment and the results. I have no complaints at all with the support that we’ve had and the support from the supporters and everyone at the club.

“Do I believe I can turn it around? Of course. I also understand it’s tough. We’re in a tough situation, there’s no getting away from that. The only thing you can do is front it up, be honest with it. We want to do better than we are and at the moment we’re not.”

West Ham have seen a decline since they parted company with David Moyes at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

The Scot achieved two consecutive top-seven finishes in the Premier League before leading the club to Europa Conference League success in 2023 – their first major silverware in 43 years.

However, the Hammers ended their association with Moyes as the supporters were unhappy with his defensive brand of football.

Julen Lopetegui was announced as his replacement, but the Spaniard lasted until January 2025 following a series of disappointing results.

Potter took over from Lopetegui, and led the club to a 14th-place finish.

With a full pre-season under his belt and a positive summer transfer window, many expected Potter to make a good start to the new season.

However, the former Chelsea boss has completely failed to do that and is now on the brink of getting sacked from his position.
