Jeremy McNichols start or sit: Week 3 fantasy football advice

We break down the fantasy football outlook of Jeremy McNichols ahead of the Commanders’ Week 3 matchup against Vegas.

Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season is upon us and the action will continue on Sunday with the Las Vegas Raiders heading east to visit the Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Commanders fell to 1-1 for the year last Thursday night, losing to the Packers on the road in a 27-18 setback. Backup running back Jeremy McNichols barely saw the field in the loss but could have a bigger role in the offense moving forward.

Below, we’ll go over McNichols’ outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.

Fantasy Football analysis: Commanders RB Jeremy McNichols

McNichols was on the field for just 23% of the Commanders’ offensive snaps last Thursday night and didn’t record any stats in the road setback at Lambeau Field. The veteran has just four carries for 25 yards on the season so far, but could see an uptick in production in the coming weeks due to the injuries the offense suffered in Green Bay last week.

Starting running back Austin Ekeler suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in the loss, bumping rookie backup Jacory Croskey-Merritt into the starting role. That means McNichols will be in line to serve as RB2 for the offense and could be a helping hand on third-downs. And with veteran Marcus Mariota starting in place of an injured Jayden Daniels at quarterback, the Commanders may opt to go with a run-heavy attack against the Raiders on Sunday.

Sit. McNichols will certainly get some more run on Sunday, but his usage could be muted by fellow backup Chris Rodriguez. I don’t expect a big fantasy performance from him this week, but he is rostered in less than 2% of fantasy leagues for those of you who are curious enough to grab him off the waiver wire. Just keep an eye out for him on Sunday.
