Tyquan Thornton start or sit: Week 3 fantasy football advice

We break down the fantasy football outlook of Tyquan Thornton ahead of Week 3

The Kansas City Chiefs lost WR1 Rashee Rice to a suspension to start the season and then lost their new WR1 Xavier Worthy to a shoulder injury early in Week 1. Rice won’t be back until his six-week suspension is up, but Worthy should be back earlier, as he’s going to play through his injury while wearing a brace of some sort. Will Worthy play this week? We still don’t know, but if he doesn’t, Tyquan Thornton will once again be a big part of the Chiefs’ passing offense.

For this article we will assume Worthy is out, but if he does play, Thornton should fall back into his backup role and much fewer snaps.

Below, we’ll go over Tyquan Thornton’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.

Fantasy Football analysis: Chiefs, WR, Tyquan Thornton

So far this season, Thornton has been the only true big play receiver for the Patrick Mahomes. Through two games he has caught 4-of-9 targets for 100 yards and a touchdown. He will get his shots down field and the Giants have given up the fourth most passing yards and third-most wide receiver yards.

Start or sit in Week 3 PPR leagues?

Sit. There is some upside here of course, but the lack of targets in a game the Chiefs are heavy favorites does not bode well for Thornton. You’d likely need to be in a very big league to need to flex him out this week.

Start or sit in Week 3 standard leagues?

Sit.
