Ashton Jeanty start or sit: Week 3 fantasy football advice

We break down the fantasy football outlook of Ashton Jeanty ahead of the Raiders’ Week 3 matchup against the Commanders.

Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season is upon us and the action will continue on Sunday with the Las Vegas Raiders heading east to visit the Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Raiders enter this matchup at 1-1 and are fresh off a disappointing 20-9 loss to the Chargers last Monday night. Rookie running back Ashton Jeanty was held in check during the primetime showdown and his slow start through two weeks are raising some concerns among fantasy managers

Below, we’ll go over Jeanty’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.

Fantasy Football analysis: Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty

Jeanty ran for just 43 yards off 11 carries in Monday’s loss against the Chargers, earning less than 10 fantasy points in both standard and PPR leagues in the process. It was a miserable night for the Raiders offense as a whole but the first-round pick has struggled to find his footing through two games, totaling just 81 yards on an abysmal 2.7 yards per carry. The 2024 Heisman Trophy runner-up was the No. 6 RB in ADP heading into the season, so it’s understandable why managers are starting to get antsy when it comes to the rookie.

Part of it can be chalked up to the struggles of the Raiders’ offensive line, which has the worst run-block win rate in the NFL according to ESPN analytics. Some of it can also be pinned on his usage through two weeks and following Monday’s game, both head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly emphasized that they’re trying to ease the rookie in before feeding him a massive amount of carries. We’ll see how Jeanty fares against a Commanders defense that has limited opponents to just 3.94 yards per carry so far.

Start or sit in Week 3 standard leagues?

Start. Jeanty averaged out to be a top-11 pick overall in fantasy leagues across the board and that’s too high of a price for managers to just abandon after two weeks. Given his track record with running backs, I trust Carroll and his staff to get the Jeanty train rolling soon and the rookie himself is ready to shoulder a heavier load. Stay the course and start him this week.

Start or sit in Week 3 PPR leagues?
