Take a look at out staff predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 3 matchup against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.
The Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants will face off in primetime this evening in an exciting Week 3 showdown that could have huge implications for both teams.
Despite their 0-2 records, Kansas City and New York have shown flashes of brilliance through two games and will desperately look to earn their first victory in 2025 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson are familiar foes, and with a matchup on Sunday Night Football at stake, both former Super Bowl champions will have something to prove in the inter-conference contest.
Take a look at our predictions for the Chiefs' matchup against the Giants:
Ed Easton Jr.'s prediction
The Kansas City Chiefs are 0-2 for the first time since the 2014 season and ever in the Patrick Mahomes era. The next obstacle to getting their first win will be against the winless New York Giants, who will be holding their home opener on Sunday Night Football.
The offense is in desperate need of a consistent rushing attack from the position group. Isiah Pacheco returning to his hometown could be the inspiration needed to shake off his early-season slump. Mahomes will also need Tyquan Thornton to take another step forward at wide receiver, while Travis Kelce will have a bounce-back performance under the lights.
Chris Jones will finally secure his first sack of the season against a shaky Giants offensive line trying to protect Russell Wilson. The pressure on the defensive line will be crucial to disrupt the chemistry, allowing Wilson to look down the field and find Malik Nabers for big plays. The Chiefs' rookies on defense could play a significant role in the game due to injuries to veterans in the rotation.
Final score: Chiefs 35, Giants 17
Jon Ediger's prediction
Chiefs 31, Giants 20: Sunday's game is Kansas City's best chance to get into the win column this year. New York is also having a poor start to the season and doesn't show signs of improving. Quarterback Russell Wilson is playing well relative to last season, but the veteran shot-caller isn't the world-beater, by any means.
Despite their loss in Week 2, the Chiefs' defense showed signs of improvement last week against the Eagles and held Super Bowl MVP quarterback Jalen Hurts to just 101 yards on 15 completions. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and his team will face a more manageable task against Wilson.
Kansas City should by no means take this game lightly, but the struggling Giants will likely provide minimal resistance to Mahomes and company. Despite a depleted receiving corps, expect to see some big shots downfield from the two-time MVP.
Final score: Chiefs 31, Giants 20
John Dillon's prediction
On paper, this should be one of the Chiefs' "easiest" matchups of the season. But, given what we've seen from Kansas City through two weeks, it seems that every game the Chiefs play will be something of a struggle in 2025.
This contest will come down to New York's ability to contain Patrick Mahomes, and little else. If the two-time MVP is able to return to form and stuff the stat sheet, the Giants will find it exceptionally difficult to keep pace with Russell Wilson leading the way on offense.
Defensively, Kansas City just needs to avoid utter collapse.
Again, on paper, this game shouldn't be particularly close. But I'm hesitant to count on a straight-up blowout.
Final score: Chiefs 26, Giants 16
