Durban City head coach Gavin Hunt has called for more signings with the PSL transfer window set to slam shut on Monday, 22 September at midnight.

The newly promoted side has beefed up its squad with the acquisitions of Darren Keet, Haashim Domingo, Thabo Nodada, and Brooklyn Poggenpoel, among others.

While City also lured Terrence Mashego on a season-long loan from Mamelodi Sundowns, although he didn’t feature against his parent club on Saturday, Hunt is keen to further bolster the squad.

“We game with 18 players, that’s all we have got. We need one or two [players], we got Terrence [Mashego] coming in now and obviously he couldn’t play [against Sundowns due to loan restrictions], so another player came in,” said the City mentor.

“So, we need to get a little bit more strength and depth to give us a few more options. But right now, the squad is quite tight.

On the club’s targets for the ongoing season, the four-time league winner remained tight-lipped, stressing the importance of taking one game at a time amidst a thin squad.

“I don’t think you should look at the end line, I think you should just look at the next game and we will try and plot from there,” Hunt added.

“Sundowns can think further down the line, resting 20 players and we can’t do that. We have to play the next game and try to get the most out of it.

The KZN-based outfit will be determined to get back to winning ways when they visit Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Sundowns in the capital.
