FC Barcelona’s 18-year-old forward Lamine Yamal has become the subject of heavy criticism after reports of summer parties and controversial goal celebrations.

The teenager, already a key figure for both Barcelona and Spain marked his birthday with a high-profile event that drew backlash from fans and commentators who questioned his professionalism.

Some claimed that such celebrations could derail his progress at a time when expectations around him are immense.

The scrutiny did not stop there. Yamal’s on-field celebration, where he appeared to mimic putting on a crown was interpreted by some as arrogance and forced Spain coach Luis de la Fuente to publicly defend him.

Cristobal Soria, the outspoken El Chiringuito pundit, defended Yamal on The Wild Project podcast, dismissing fears about the teenager’s future

I am sure Barça has the right people around Lamine,” he said.

“I am convinced that his entourage will know how to keep him grounded and focused.”

“ I think it is nothing more than what any kid would do. He trains, he takes care of himself, he lives for football, but a few days a year he wants to celebrate. ”

“That seems perfectly fine to me. We are used to highlighting the most frivolous things, but what really matters is that this boy works harder than anyone. ”

“The important thing is his performance, not whether he throws a party.”

The Spanish star is currently nursing an injury which he encountered during International break and recently missed Barcelona’s Champions League match against Newcastle United.

According to reports, Esplogues de Llobregat native could return to full fitness for a UCL clash against PSG on October 1, while he could be in line for few minutes against Real Sociedad on September 28.
