Who’s out today?
The Washington Commanders released their final injury report for today’s game on Wednesday and then made one roster move yesterday. CB Antonio Hamilton Sr was elevated for today’s game, and will provide depth with Jonathan Jones(hamstring) going to IR. Washington also placed RB Austin Ekeler(Achilles) and De Deatrich Wise Jr(quad) on IR, and made several moves since, including signing former Redskins 2nd-round pick, DE Preston Smith.
The Commanders ruled out three players on offense for today’s game. Jayden Daniels(knee) is the big name on the list, and he’ll miss his first NFL game today. Marcus Mariota steps in to start, with Josh Johnson moving into the QB2 spot. Washington didn’t elevate Sam Hartman, so no designated emergency 3rd QB today. TE John Bates and WR Noah Brown both suffered groin injuries last Thursday night and are out today. Washington will have their other three TEs available, and they signed Chris Moore from the practice squad for depth.
Brandon Coleman was a surprise inactive today. He suffered a shoulder injury vs the Packers, but was only limited in the first practice of the week. Team officials said this was a coach’s decision. Michael Deiter has been elevated from the practice squad the last two weeks, but didn’t get the call for the Raiders game. The Commanders are making some changes to their offensive line, starting Andrew Wylie at RG and moving the former starter, Nick Allegretti, to a reserve role for the three interior spots. With Allegretti able to back up the center spot, Deiter wasn’t needed, and now Trent Scott is active for the first time this season as the swing tackle.
Chris Rodriguez has been a healthy scratch to start the season, but is active for the first time thanks to the Ekeler injury. Washington will have Bill Merritt and Jeremy McNichols in the backfield today, and Deebo Samuel will also likely be used out of the backfield for a few plays.
Only one of Washington’s two rookie LBs is inactive today. Ale Kaho was an undrafted free agent from UCLA, and gets the first game active over his teammate Kain Medrano, was selected in the 6th round.
